Fairfield Glade Resident Services (FGRS) is happy to announce that it has found the perfect fit for its Caring Connections Program.  Janna Anderson of Fairfield Glade has accepted the position of Program Manager for this most important program.
The Caring Connections Program assists residents in resolving home health care issues and other independent living challenges. The trained Care Consultants meet with residents to find resources and create support networks to assist residents with their current and future needs
Janna Anderson and her husband moved to Fairfield Glade from Michigan where she had, for many years, worked as a Private Duty Nurse and a Health Care Manager at Sentinel Pointe Retirement Home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
It is apparent by listening to Janna that helping seniors is where her heart lies. As she says:
“Although my 50-year nursing career gave me opportunities early on to work in a hospital setting and a hematology office, I knew I had found my calling when I began working with seniors.  The rewards included hearing experiences from those who had fought in WWII and Korean Wars following the hardships of life lived during the Great Depression.  I grieved with an elderly patient who told of her young sailor husband leaving her to raise their toddler and yet to be born baby, when he died at sea during WWII.  I listened as a man facing the end of life wondered again how he was able to end the life of a young enemy with whom he had come face to face during a war fought 60 years earlier.  I have had the privilege of watching an unresponsive hospice client extend her hand heavenward as she awoke to take her final breath.  Her expression confirmed to me that she was now seeing the Savior she had served so faithfully on earth.  Assisting a spouse or a family to find the patience and help needed to travel the world of dementia with a loved one, has been an oft repeated situation.  Life stories like these stretched my education beyond the history and nursing books I had once studied.  As a nurse to the elderly, I’ve had the opportunity to care for clients in a clinic setting designed to help folks who have run out of funds.  But I also have spent four winters caring for a billionaire who needed nursing care while in their Caribbean home.  Whatever our background, most of us will require some assistance as we age.  I can’t imagine a more wonderful setting than Fairfield Glade for my husband and me to now face our own aging.  Ed DeVries introduced us to the many services Fairfield Glade Resident Services offer to our community.  He invited me to consider being part of this organization of neighbor helping neighbors.  As I met more volunteers involved in FGRS, it became clear to me that this was a place where I could continue to do what I love, to benefit my neighbors and myself.”
It is with open arms that we welcome Janna into the FGRS family of volunteers.
FGRS is located at 4929 Peavine Rd. Ste 102. Come visit our office from 9:00AM till Noon Monday -Friday. Contributed by David Prigg
